SMC automatic stations network#
The Servei Meteorològic de Catalunya (SMC) manages the Automatic Weather Stations Network (Xarxa d’Estacions Meteorològiques Automàtiques - XEMA). This network is made up of more than 186 Automatic Weather Stations (EMA), which transmit information to the SMC via digital radio, GSM technology or satellite.
Available variables#
The following sensor types and variables are available on the platform:
- Rain gauges
Rain accumulated in 30 minutes, in mm.
- Anemometers
Maximum wind gust, km/h.
Wind speed, in km/h.
Wind direction, in degrees.
- Thermometers
Temperature, in ºC.
- Hygrometers
Relative humidity, in %.
Temporal resolution#
The platform can display the last 24 hours of data in 30 minute intervals.
Update frequency#
Data is updated in real time, approximately every 30 minutes.
Visualization#
The colour of the station icon indicates the exceedance of one of the thresholds defined in the configuration section.
When no data is available for the station, the icon is greyed out.
